CIER

Certified Indoor Environmental Remediator (CIER)

Since 1983, the Environmental Information Associated, formerly the National Asbestos Council, identified a need to disseminate information regarding issues with asbestos containing building materials. Several thousand members later, we found ourselves meeting this commitment in many more ways than simple information dissemination.

The majority of our membership comprises of honest, hard working, and committed individuals who toil day in and day out with matters that will best protect human health and environment. Many of us have been in this industry for five, ten, even twenty or more years. Due to the nature of our industry, however, there is not a single certification that acknowledges this commitment to cross training, professionalism, and the most trusted virtue of any industry - experience.

After much discussion, we felt that it was time that we acknowledge those among us who have made a commitment to protect others. In doing so we looked inside our own membership and recognized that many of our professionals, while they do not have a formal education or college degree that directly applies to our industry, they DO hold numerous training accreditations, have been tested and retested, and have extensive hands-on, practical, real-world experience in the field. We have developed a process that will allow us to verify your training and experience, allow your supervisors or peers to vouch for such experience, and require that you fully abide by our virtues.

If you meet our rigorous requirements, you will demonstrate to the environmental remediation world that you are above the minimalist practicing professional: you are true Certified Indoor Environmental Remediator (CIER)!

The attached application has detailed instructions on the documentation you must provide in order to meet our criteria. Typically, the application processing and review takes between 30 and 45 days.

Thank-you for your interest and good luck!
