Director Brent Kynoch Represents EIA at ADAO Press Conference Announcing Research Findings on Everyday Products Containing Asbestos

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Products Containing Asbestos Include Children’s Toys, Appliances, Hardware & Household Goods and Home & Garden Items

Most Americans mistakenly believe that all asbestos containing products have been banned, when in fact the U.S. still continues to import thousands of types of asbestos and asbestos containing products every year.

ADAO and a panel of experts discussed landmark findings from the Scientific Analytical Institute revealing asbestos is in everyday products including children’s toys, appliances, hardware and household goods and home and garden items, Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. The findings, the first in a series of test results, include specific product examples, analyses on the dangers of asbestos exposure, and the new, younger profile of asbestos victims. The occurrence of asbestos-related diseases, including mesothelioma, lung cancer and asbestosis, continues to increase. Studies estimate that during the next decade, 100,000 victims in the United States will die of an asbestos related disease annually – equaling 30 deaths per day.
